  • Smilelign

Sometimes called invisible braces, Smilelign is a system of clear plastic aligners that will give you the straight smile you always dreamed of. It is practically invisible, so people won’t even know you’re having your teeth straightened.

    How it works

Step 1: visit Roseneath Dental for a consultation to confirm you’re a suitable candidate for Smilelign clear braces.
Step 2: your dentist will take impressions of your teeth, which will be sent to a dental lab to create your bespoke clear aligners.
Step 3: you’ll wear your aligners permanently (though they can be removed when you need to) for 2-3 weeks, then return to the dentist for a new set of aligners. This process will be repeated until your treatment is completed.

  • Modern braces

No longer the train tracks of old, braces today have been revolutionised by technological advances, resulting in teeth straightening that’s affordable, painless and fast. Typically, you can expect your orthodontic treatment to be completed within months rather than years.

Braces can be used to treat overcrowded, gappy and crooked problems with the bite. The system we use is extremely lightweight yet high-tech, gently moving both the crown and the root of the teeth simultaneously, resulting in a faster treatment time.

"The practice and staff are so friendly and welcoming, far from dreading trips to the dentist, the whole family enjoys going, knowing we'll be well looked after."

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is suitable for Smilelign?

Smilelign is a cosmetic treatment designed for the front ‘smiling’ teeth – so if there are deeper problems concerning bite and function, your dentist may recommend an alternative treatment.

  • What does the Smilelign treatment involve?

If your dentist agrees that you’re suitable for Smilelign, you’ll begin with a consultation during which you’ll be able to see a 3D time-lapse image of your teeth before, during and after treatment. You’ll need to sit for dental impressions, which will be sent to a lab so that your bespoke clear aligners can be fabricated. Then you simply wear the aligners for the prescribed amount of time, returning to change them every few weeks until your treatment is complete.

  • How quickly can I expect results?

This is dependent on your individual case, but typically treatment takes between 3 and 12 months. You’ll need to have a permanent retainer fitted behind your teeth after treatment to maintain the results.

  • Are braces right for me?

Braces are suitable for patients of all ages, though you will need to undergo an orthodontic consultation at Roseneath Dental in St Peter Port to confirm the system is right for you.

  • What are the benefits?

Modern orthodontics require shorter treatment times, meaning fewer visits to the dentist, and therefore less expense. With braces, the need for tooth extractions is also greatly reduced or eliminated.

  • Are braces removable?

No, braces are fixed, which in some cases is recommended for optimum results.

  • Will my teeth stay straight after my braces come off?

In most cases, after orthodontic treatment we will recommend fixed or removable retainers, which will hold your teeth in the correct position discreetly and permanently.
